2024
Our meetings in 2024 are in full swing with several new members joining us.
In February, Diane Chambers visited our Thursday club meeting and showed us how to attach a crew neckband. What a wonderful day we had. So much information. Thank you Diane.
We welcome all machine knitters from beginners to experienced. We have one member who is 103 years young and still actively knitting; we also have HSC and uni students who have taken up the craft. We just love sharing the craft of machine knitting !!!
2023
In September, we had a visit from Virginia Burrow. She brought some of her beautiful scarves to show what can be achieved on our machines. Virginia works mostly with a Brother machine, knitting double bed jacquard with her own designs in fine merino wool, often dyed herself. Her designs usually depict the Australian bush, wildflowers, and trees and are sold in a shop and gallery in Blue Mountains. Virginia showed us many designs and explained her design process.
In April, Francisco explained how he had designed and knitted his prizewinning entry of Elvis in the Royal Easter Show. He used various software to create the pattern and import it to knit it on his Passap E6000. It won First Prize and was displayed in the Cabinet of Excellence at the Show. It truly was a show-stopper.
In March we had two international machine knitters attend our Saturday meeting - Nic Corrigan from the UK and Kurt Payne from NZ.
Nic has the Whitehall Studio in the UK and has a recently published book called Fair Isle, Knitting Machine Techniques. We also welcomed two visitors from Victoria. What a wonderful time we all had – lots of talking, knitting, helping. It was quite a buzz and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
New members are bringing their machines and we are getting them started on their journey.
We also sell refurbished machines and lots of bits and pieces.
YARN SALES: we have 100% Wool, Wool Blend and Cashmilon yarn cones in many colours for sale at our club meetings.
Charity Knitting - Last winter we continued to knit items for “Hats for the Homeless”. We have a number of easy patterns available for all levels of knitters and plenty of support to get to you started.

Robin had wonderful ideas with her many scarves. How to knit them, wear them with flair, for warmth or a great fashion statement. Thank you Robin.
Jan showed us some of her plated garments, then demonstrated plating on the Brother punch card machine, paying particular attention to the threading on the sinker plate. Thank you Jan.
We had much pleasure in presenting over 30 warm knitted items to the Support the Girls charity.
Robin & Barbara presented the items to Leanne & Jane at an information morning in Epping.
See https://www.supportthegirls.com.au/ for the wonderful work they do.
Barbara did a talk on knitting techniques for using variegated and gradient yarns
Some members are working to hack the older Brother electronic machines, installing new AYAB software. Others are checking fuses and capacitators on the electronic machines. Exciting times ahead with new advances.
